Benefits of clean wheels
Clean wheels place the cherry on top of a clean car. Regardess of wheel material or shape, a clean wheel gives off a good impression to anyone looking at your car. Not only does a clean wheel add to your car's sleek look, but it also prevents your wheels from getting weathering damage. All that brake dust and road debris slowly eats into the wheels if not regularly cleaned. By getting your wheels detailed, you reflect your standards and protect your investment.

How To Detail Car Wheels
1. Gather Supplies. Get a dedicated wheel & tire bucket, long wheel brush, soft bristle brush, and a detail brush. Grab your wheel cleaner of choice, we recommend going with Dark Fury at a 1:4 dilution using distilled water. Using a grit guard will prevent scratching your wheels
2. Pre-Wash. Spray your wheel cleaner on each wheel moving from wheel to wheel in a clockwise or counter-clockwise order. Make sure to spray deep in the wheel well to ensure complete coverage.
3. Wheel Scrub. Begin at the top of the wheel barrel and work your way down scrubbing with the long wheel brush. To prevent scratching, make sure to rinse it in the bucket frequently. Use the soft bristle brush to scrub the wheel face. The lug nuts are difficult to get to which is where the detail brush comes in. Use the detail brush to detail the wheel lug nuts. Be mindful of the chemicals you sprayed on the other wheels making sure they do not dry on the wheel surface.
4. Tire Scrub. Spray your cleaner of choice on the tire wall and scrub with a soft bristle brush.
5. Rinse. Once that tire is complete, you can spray down the wheel and tires from the top to bottom.
6. No-Sling Tire Dressing. After the tires are mostly dry, apply a water based, no-sling tire dressing using a foam applicator pad. Foam is an excellent applicator pad since it gives even coverage. Wipe excess off dressing with a dedicated microfiber or rag. Pro tip: If you have large tires with lots of traction bumps, you can apply the tire dressing using a soft bristle brush instead of a foam pad.
Q&A
Q: How long does it take to detail car wheels?
A: Generally between 15-30 minutes for a mildly dirt wheel.
Â
Q: Why do the professionals detail the wheels and tires first?
A: This is the dirtiest part of the car. By detailing them first, we get the most abrasive material off the car first. If anything slings off during the brushing phase, it will simply get washed away during the pre-wash step in our hand wash step.
